If you somehow missed it, building an email list is perhaps the most important piece to building your online website or business.
Most people check their email everyday and getting into someone’s email inbox is much more personal than simply trying to reach them through social media. You also actually really own your email list whereas with social media you are at the mercy of the sites and their policies. The goal should be to develop a list around a specific topic with users that essentially want you to market to them, even if you are just marketing your own blog posts or products.
To build a list, you first should choose one of the list building services to use. I like MailChimp and Aweber (ad). You then want to figure out how to display subscribe boxes to your users. That is where this post comes in. Below, you’ll find some of the top WordPress plugins to help you display subscription boxes to your users on your WordPress site.

Description: SumoMe by AppSumo started out as a simple popup, but they now are actually a full piece of software that has a lot of different pieces to it.
Some of the different email subscription features include “listbuilder” which is a standard popup, “smartbar” is a top bar, and “scrollbox” is a box that can be set to appear in the bottom corner. SumoMe works with all the leading email services (MailChimp, Aweber (ad), Constant Contact, and more). They also have additional apps inside the SumoMe software that do a plethora of things for your site like highlighter (share highlighted text), image sharer, and a social share bar that is mobile friendly.
You can see that I am using SumoMe on Simply Compelling, and I’ve used it on dozens of other sites as well as for clients. I like it because it is simple, has a lot of functionality, it is really easy to use, and it’s free!
